Suzanne Seligson, MPS, ATR-BC
I earned my Masters degree in the Creative Art Therapies from Pratt Institute in 2001. I then went on to complete my hours to become a Registered Art Therapist and obtained my Board Certification. Additionally, I have been trained in meditation, play therapy, and energy work. My counseling background includes a decade of working with children, adolescents, and adults in a broad range of therapeutic venues. These settings include; children who lived with both chronic and terminal illnesses on the child life units at Mt. Sinai Hospital NYC, outpatient adult addictions at Bellevue Hospital NYC, Inpatient Mental Health units both adult and adolescents at Bellevue Hospital NYC, children who were "at risk'" in the children and adolescent outpatient unit in East Orange, NJ, and children with Sensory Processing disorders, Autism, and Aspergers in a sensory integration facility in Lafayette Hill, PA.
While I was working with youth at risk I found that while using Art Therapy, Play therapy, and talk therapy I wanted to integrate another passion of mine, which is yoga. I then became certified as a Kids Yoga instructor with Shakta Kaur Kalsa through the Radiant Children's Yoga Program and later did training in working with kids with Special Needs by instructors from Yoga For The Special Needs Child, The Sonia Sumar Method.
The population I specialize in ranges from kids struggling with grief/ loss, sensory processing, depression, anxiety/fears, abuse, ADD/ADHD. Adolescents confronting independence and social pressures, abuse, school challenges...And adults dealing with new transitions, woman issues, and pre and post natal moms.
